About us
Why We Built BearTales.ai
Stories of strength, kindness, and resilience — made for the child in front of you, on the night you're having.
Our family is built out of hard things
Beautiful, hard experiences that made each of us strong, and made us unbreakable together.
Jack
Jack's wife was diagnosed with cancer, and he and his family faced a four-year medical battle. After supporting her through that journey and ultimately becoming a single dad to three after losing her, Jack learned to teach his kids how to find joy after sorrow.
Auna
Auna lost her sister at thirty to a routine surgery, saw her father survive a brain injury that left him disabled, and watched her children weather divorce. She taught her kids to find peace within themselves when their world feels out of control.
Becoming one
When Jack and Auna found each other and blended their families into one, they brought together five kids who had carried more loss and trauma than most adults, and hoped to help them turn that pain into power of their own.
Inventing the words
Every night we wanted to tell them it would be okay in the end. We didn't always have the words. So we invented them. Bedtime became rambling tales of courage and compassion, stories with beginnings and middles and rarely an end. The kids listened anyway, until the familiar ones ran dry.
The night it changed
Then one night, sick with the flu, Auna tried something new. She described each child to an AI: their age, what they loved, what they were carrying that week. A new school. A bully. A boy learning to be gentle with himself. She asked for one story that held all three, turned it into a voice, and pressed play. The kids went quiet. Then they asked for another.
Our ritual
It became our ritual. Our troubles went in, a story came out, and each child felt met exactly where they were.
Jack and Auna
We made BearTales.ai because the story that held our five kids is the story we wanted to offer yours — a way to meet a child exactly where they are on the night you're having. We believe the hardest truths are easier to hold when a dragon or a unicorn is carrying them, and that every child deserves to fall asleep reminded they are going to be okay.
Here is what we've learned
The shape of a life is the story we tell about it. And the hardest truths are easiest to hold when a dragon or a unicorn is the one carrying them.
BearTales.ai is what worked for our family, offered to yours.
